Description:
Bagana Volcano is a stratovolcano located in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville. It is an active volcano and its frequent eruptions are effusive which mostly produce lava flows with minor or less frequent events of explosive ash and pyroclastic products. Recent global SO2 monitoring satellite images show that Bagana has been one of the highest ulphur dioxide degassing volcanoes in the world. The last major eruption of Bagana volcano was in 2014.
