Description:
Ulawun is the 2nd most instrumentally monitored volcano after Rabaul volcano. All the installed equipments in Ulamona monitoring outstation are situated at the Ulawun Observatory which is over 12 km West of the volcano with one seismic station installed about 1200m (Ulawun = 2300m high)from the summit on the western flank. 12 volt computer systems support the operation of each instrument. Monitoring data from the instruments are continuously relayed back to RVO via cellular internet for further work. Visual observation reports are usually given daily by an observer stationed near the site.
